Venerable U Silananda
The spiritual guide of the CMBT. He was born in Myanmar (Burma) in 1927
and has been a Theravada Buddhist Monk for more than 50 years. He hold
two titles of Master in Dhamma and was one of the final editors
of the Pali texts, Commentaries and Sub-Commentaries in the Sixth
Buddhist Council, celebrated in Yangoon, Myanmar in 1954-1956. Venerable
U Silananda is the author of seven books in Burmese and in English of
the book The Four Foundations of Mindfulness published by Wisdom
Publications in 1990. In addition Venerable U Silananda is the abbot of
the Dhammananda Vihara in Half Moon Bay, California, USA and the Rector
of the International Theravada Missionary Buddhist University (ITBMU) in
Yangoon, Myanmar. |

Bhikkhu Nandisena
The abbot of the Dhamma Vihara, Venerable Nandisena was born in
Argentina in 1954. In 1991 he received his ordination in Taungpulu Kaya
Aye Monastery, Boulder Creek California, USA, with the Venerable Hlaing
Tet Sayadaw as preceptor and Venerable U Silananda as teacher. Venerable
Nandisena has studied Abhidhamma, Pali and Meditation with Venerable U
Silananda. He is also the Spanish translator of the Abhidhammattha
Sangaha by Anuruddha Thera, work published by El Colegio de México
in 1999. |
